Discover how to get the most out of NExT for your Biobank

Main advantages

The dynamic platform for Biobanks to make samples visible

  • Give visibility to your Biobank, your research areas and your samples
  • Get in touch with Researchers or other Biobanks in Switzerland and in Europe
  • Be able to document your samples at the Quality level (cf protocols) and import these data on the platform in order to make them visible to researchers
  • Create or join research communities

Main features

What are the keys to effective collaboration between researchers and biobanks?

A survey carried out among our pilot biobanks enabled us to understand and identify their real needs and develop following functionalities of the tool.

How to add your samples?

Your Biobank has obtained at least one SBP Label and you wish to make your samples available on the SBP NExT?

  1. You obtain at least the VITA Label (the NORMA Label for infrastructures)
  2. Your biobank become visible on the SBP NExT
  3. You enter the tool with the biobank admin credentials we provided you
  4. On your admin dashboard, click on « Samples »
  5. Follow the 3 steps that appear:

Communities

The biobank can manage its communities.

The Communities are intended to encourage collaboration between Researchers and Biobanks outside the « public » part of NExT. Interconnectivity and exchange between members is facilitated through a real communication platform.

Sample visibility

The biobank can manage who to share its samples with

Biobanks that make their data available in the NExT tool have the choice to make the samples publicly visible or to display them in a Community Space.

Security

No hassle, SBP guarantees the access, security and stability of the tool.

Data

What types of data will be hosted in the NExT?

  • Pre-analytical data related to samples and protocols, with the exception of the sample ID, which will not be visible to the user
  • Donor data is protected by safeguards to avoid re-identification
(e.g. if less than 10 records for a sample type are available, no donor information will be displayed)
  • General information: organisation of the Biobank, sample type and access rules
